What the spring reverb is for
A 1970s organ reverb tank, why it hums, and why that hum became the key of an album.

The tank
The reverb came out of a church organ that was being scrapped in Halle. It is a metal box with three springs inside, and it picks up everything: footsteps, trams, the kick drum through the table.
On stage it sits on the floor next to the table, so the room itself shakes the springs. No two nights sound the same because no two floors are the same.
From the entry
It is less an effect than a room you carry around.
