Field Recordings for Machines
Eleven tracks recorded live to tape over four nights in a disused tram depot in Leipzig. No overdubs, no laptop: one drum machine, two mono synths and a spring reverb that hums when the trams go past.

NF-011
The depot on Karl-Heine-Straße stopped taking trams in 1998. For four nights in February, Ida set up the rig in the middle of the inspection pit, ran two microphones up into the roof beams and played until the tape ran out.
Nothing on the album was edited after the fact. When a bassline drifts, it drifts; when a tram rattles past outside at 04:10, it stays in the mix. The spring reverb, a tank from a 1970s church organ, hums in sympathy with the overhead lines, and that hum became the album’s key.
